Program Description

This program offers training for both new and experienced computer numerical control (CNC) personnel. Students new to CNC can complete the entire program to learn the basic CNC operator skills necessary for entry-level employment in manufacturing and earn a CNC Technology certificate. Experienced CNC personnel can enroll in any of the CNC Certificates courses they choose to upgrade their skills. An assessment is given at the end of each course. A score of 70% or better is required to receive a certificate for each course. Students successfully completing all five courses will also earna CNC Technologycertificate for the entire program.

Who should attend?
Manual machinists, CNC operators, CNC programmers, shop floor technicians and shop floor supervisors.

  • Blueprint Reading & Gaging Review
  • Machining processes
  • Set-up and Operation of CNC Mill and Lathe
  • Tooling used for CNC Machining
  • Basic CNC Programming for Mill and Lathe
  • Overview of CAD/CAM using Mastercam

Prerequisites:
It is recommended that students be able to read basic blueprints, read micrometers and know what milling and turning are to enter the program.

Requirements for Completion:
To earn the CNC Technology Certificate, you must successfully complete five required classes totaling 160 hours of coursework. The program also offers four optional labs for those students who need hands-on machine time.
