Wondering what else there is to know about Smart Switch? Well, there are several settings available to protect your backup files and data while they're transferring.

Smart Switch settings

Keep your data safe while you transfer content between phones. You have lots of Smart Switch settings available at your fingertips.

OpenSmart Switch, tapMore options(the three vertical dots), and then tapSettings. The following settings are available:

  • Enhance transfer security: To protect your data, an authentication code must be entered when transferring files.

  • External storage encryption: You can choose to protect your data with either a password or with your Samsung account when using an SD card or USB Flash drive to transfer data. You will need to enter the password or log in to your Samsung account on the receiving device. You also have the option to leave your data unprotected if you choose No encryption.

Why does the Smart Switch say not enough? ›

If your receiving phone's storage is at or near maximum capacity, Smart Switch may be unable to complete a wireless transfer to that phone. Deselect any unnecessary items and make sure that the estimated total size does not surpass the receiving phone's available space.

Does Smart Switch transfer all settings? ›

While Smart Switch supports tons of data types, there are certain kinds of content that it does not support. For instance, it can't transfer app data, DRM-protected media files, or any third-party account related information. Some stored settings like Safari history, bookmarks, WhatsApp messages, etc.

Why didn't my Smart Switch transfer all my pictures? ›

If an error occurred while you were transferring content through Smart Switch, there is a simple way to solve the problem: clearing the app's cache and residual files. Available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider, software version, and phone model.

Contacts: Not all contacts can be transferred with Smart Switch. Contacts from your Sim card, email and social media cannot be transferred. Themes and live wallpapers: You cannot transfer any of your phone's themes and live wallpapers with Smart Switch.
