Romances[]

Cho Chang[]

Ex-girlfriend

Harry Potter/Relationships (1)

Cho was the first girlfriend of Harry's in the book and film series. Harry first meets Cho when he started school in the fall of 1991, where they presumably met through Quidditch. It is shown he has a noticable crush on her in The Goblet of Fire' acting shy around her. When they're annual Christmas celebrations are replaced with a ball instead, Harry attempted to ask her to be his date. However, Cho, disappointed, told Harry someone else arleady asked her (Cedric Diggory). During theBall, Harry notices her and thinks she is very beautiful that night. They began dating in the fall of 1995, best beginning of The Order of the Phoenix . However, they broke up due to their opposite personalities and Cho defensive Marietta Edgecomb's actions. Despite that, Harry and Cho remain friends and no longer remain hostile.

During the films, Harry's crush for Cho is genuine between the two of them. They begin dating in the fifth film, where Harry kisses Cho beneathe a mistletoe and thus starting their relationship. However, they break up because Harry initially believed she betrayed the DA for Umbridge. When it was revealed Cho revealed this information unwillingly, Harry looked remorseful for his treatment of her earlier. Like in the book, Harry and Cho remain friends rather than getting back together. Plus, breaking up with Cho makes Harry realize that she never stopped loving Cedric and that he loves Ginny afterwards.

Ginny Weasley[]

Harry Potter/Relationships (2)

Wife

When they were younger, Ginny had a crush on Harry since she met him in September, 1991, at Platform 9 and three quarters. She eventually admits to loving him in Tom Riddle's diary. Though no romandic feelings emerged at this point, Harry was in absolute horror when he saw Ginny unconscious on the floor of the chamber of Secrets and ran to his future wife's side, begging her to wake up, as this day would be considered by Harry the worse days ever.

Subsequently, Harry and Ginny's relationship remained rather platonic but Ginny still had feelings for Harry. However, she attempted to move on from Harry to other men, especially after Harry began dating Cho during the 1995-1996 school year. After breaking up with her, Harry realized he had romantic feelings for Ginny. They begin dating in The Half-Blood Prince but Harry broke up with Ginny because he freaked Voldemort would harm his girlfriend to get to him. (In the films, they remain together). During the battle of Hogwarts, Ginny and Harry kiss each other. At first, Ginny believed Harry was killed by Voldemort, until he revealed he was alive.

It is revealed in the epilogue in The Deathly Hallows, Harry and Ginny married sometime after 1998. They were happy together, especially when their three children: James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna

Family[]

Harry is related to various families within the Wizarding Worlds: the Peverells, the Evans, the Dursleys, and the Weasleys, his in-laws. He is a descendant of Ignotus Peverell and a distant nephew of Antioch and Cadmus Peverell. Harry's four grandparents included Mr and Mrs Evans, Euphemia and Fleamont Potter and has a great-grandfather, named Henry (who is Harry's possible namesake, as his great-grandfather was nicknamed Harry by his friends and family). the son of James and Lily Potter, the husband of Ginny Weasley, and father of James, Albus and Lily Potter.

Lily and James Potter[]

Harry Potter/Relationships (3)

Parents

Harry thought highly of his parents and loved them dearly even though he rarely knew them. Lily and James sacrificed themselves for their son. Lily's love sacrifice helped protect Harry from Voldemort's dark magic, even rebounding a killing curse. Whenever Snape insulted Harry's father, he came immediately into James' defense. Later, his "aunt," Marge called James a drunk and Lily a bitch, which caused Harry to inadvertently blew her up into a balloon.

Later, when viewing Snape's memories, Harry was surprised that his father was indeed responsible for bullying Snape in their younger years. They appeared to him twice: once when they distracted Voldemort so Harry could escape. THe second time was when he left to confront Voldemort, Harry's parents were one of the important figures who approached him.

Harry avenged his parents' deaths when finally defeating Voldemort in 1997 during their final duel.

As an adult, Harry was distressed in having to watch Voldemort kill his parents when Harry defeated him as a baby and his son, Albus comforted him as the event happened.

Petunia and Vernon Dursley[]

Aunt and Uncle

Petunia was the sister of Harry's mother and therefore, his maternal aunt. Since Vernon Dursley was married to Petunia, this makes them maternal uncle by marriage.

They begrudgingly took in Harry when he was a year old. When his mother stepped in between Voldemort's killing curse and her son, it placed a sacrificial protection in Harry. This required him to live with his aunt Petunia, as the sacrificial protection would remain stronger if Harry lived with a blood relative of his mother's. Over the years of verbal abuse, Harry detested living with his aunt and uncle. They never told Harry about his wizardry heritage and forbade any pictures of his parents in their house. Most of time time, Petunia would always call Harry "a freak" and neglected him. Despite this, Petunia housed him for sixteen years due to the threats Voldemort possessed. It was notable that Vernon was harsher with Harry than Petunia was, often locking him in his room for days. Instead of telling him the reason why they were left with him, Petunia and Vernon told Harry his parents died in a car crash. After being told the truth, Harry was angry that they knew about his heritage the entire time. After spending time with friends at Hogwarts and finding family with the Weasleys, Harry felt more welcomed and at home in the Wizarding World, than with the Dursleys. During The Order of the Phoenix, after Harry apparently attacked Dudley, Vernon wanted to throw him out of the house; however Petunia refused due to Dumbledore's letter she recieved about her continuing to protect Harry.

In spite of their harshness, Harry showed concern for them when their safety was at risk in 1997. in fear of what Voldemort would do to them, the Order of the Phoenix hide for their own protection. This was one of those rare moments where Harry wanted nothing bad happening to them. As they left, Petunia was going to say something to him, but chose not to and left the house in the silence. It is unknown if he ever reconciled with them like his cousin.

In light of his aunt's passing, Petunia had kept Harry's baby blanket from the night Dumbledore left him on her doorstep. Dudley mailed it over to his cousin, who was shocked his aunt had kept it all those years.

Dudley Dursley[]

I don't think you're a waste of space.
―Dudley to Harry

Cousin

When they were children, Dudley and Harry hardly ever got along, as Dudley would often try to beat up Harry. However, after his cousin saved him from a Dementor, Dudley no longer thought low of Harry. Before he left due to the threat of Voldemort in 1997, Dudley reconciled with Harry, saying his cousin was not a waste of space and both shook hands with each other.

In their adulthood, they remained in touch with each other and they were on Christmas card terms.

Sirius Black[]

Harry Potter/Relationships (4)

Godfather/Father Figure

Sirius was Harry's godfather and Sirius loved him the moment he was born. However, during the Halloween of 1981, James and Lily were both killed by Voldemort. Due to being his godfather, Sirius tried getting Hagrid to let him take over Harry's guardianship. However, the latter refused because the baby Harry was to go live with his aunt, uncle, and cousin, on Dumbledore's orders. Reluctantly, Sirius accepted this and gave Hagrid his motorcycle to get him to the Dursley residency to confront Pettigrew for betraying the Potters.

However, like all the other citizens of the Wizarding World, Harry was convinced that Sirius was responsible for the death of his parents. However, after learning it was Peter Pettigrew who betrayed his parents, Harry no longer believed Sirius was guilty and an innocent, wrongfully accused man.

After his death, Harry was distraught by the man who was both a father and a brother figure to him and attempted to avenge Sirius when chasing down Bellatrix Lestrange.

Eventually, Harry gave his eldest son, James, Sirius' first name as his son's middle name.

Ron Weasley[]

Harry Potter/Relationships (5)
Ron Weasley: "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I left. I know I was a — a —"

Harry: "You've sort of made up for it tonight. Getting the sword. Finishing off the Horcrux. Saving my life."Ron Weasley: "That makes me sound a lot cooler than I was."

―Ron and Harry reconciling

Best Friend and Brother-in-law

Ron is one of Harry's best friends and the closest thing he ever had to a brother.

Harry and Ron met at Kings Cross Station during the 1991/1992 school year, where Ron was unaware that the boy standing with him and his mother was Harry at the time. They became fast friends on the Hogwarts Express, and their relationship with Hermione was beyond strained. It wasn't until Halloween that year when Harry and Ron finally became friends with Hermione after saving her from a rogue troll.

However, a small part of Ron somewhat resented Harry, mostly to how much attention he got. Some of that resentment surfaced when Ron felt betrayed when it appeared that Harry had put his name into the Goblet in the fourth novel. After the two reconciled, it was all but forgotten, even after Ron had (indirectly) warned Harry about the dragons during the first task. Unlike everyone else, in The Order of the Phoenix, Ron was one of the few people who believed Harry and Dumbledore's claims Voldemort had returned. After learning Harry was developing romantic feelings for Ginny, Ron became protective of her. Of course, it was highly likely Ron was disturbed at the thought of his best friend crushing on his sister. Harry also felt this way when he saw Ron and Lavender together.

During The Deathly Hallows, Ron chose to be one of the seven Harry Potters with use of polyjuice potion to confuse the other Death Eaters. During the quest to destroy Voldemort's Horcruxes, Ron wore the Slytherin's locket longer than Harry or Hermione did. It's dark magic twisted his mind into thinking there was something going on between Harry and Hermione when they continued confiding in one another. He later abandoned them, leaving Harry and Hermione to continue their quest alone. However, during Christmas Ron returned to his girlfriend and best friend. He helped Harry out of the pond where Gryffindor's sword was hidden and destroying the locket with the sword. The two friends apologized to each other while facing Hermione's wrath.

After the war, the boys became brothers-in-law due to Harry's marriage to Ginny.

Hermione Granger[]

Harry Potter/Relationships (6)
She's like my sister. I love her like a sister, and I reckon she feels the same way about me. It’s always been like that.
―Harry on his friendship to Hermione

Best Friend and Sister-in-law

Hermione is one of Harry's best friends and his sister-in-law through their marriages to Ron and Ginny respectively.

Harry (along with Ron) met Hermione on the Hogwarts Express in the 1991-1992 school year shortly after it left King's Cross. While Harry easily befriended Ron, he had trouble learning to get along with Hermione. However, after saving Hermione from a mountain troll around Halloween, she and Harry (and Ron) finally became best friends. They tended to get along very well on a day-to-day basis, though Harry occasionally became annoyed by Hermione's nagging. Apart from this, Harry considered her to be one of the greatest witches of all time and didn't care about her background as a Muggle-born witch. At times, Harry could connect with Hermione when he could not with Ron; mostly because they were both raised the muggle world together. The only major fight Harry and Hermione have ever had in the series was around Christmas 1993, when she informed McGonagall about his new Firebolt broom being an anonymously sent who Hermione suspected to be Sirius Black. Harry and Ron didn't talk to her for weeks until Hagrid chastised them for their unwarranted behavior. This was enough for Harry to forgive her, as he realized she only did that to protect him.

Over the years, many people had mistaken Harry and Hermione being romantically involved. Most of the characters, such as Ron and Dumbledore, noticed how they much time Harry has spent with her. However, Harry has always insisted they were just friends, even telling Ron that he and Hermione's relationship has been on the line of siblings instead.

Fred and George Weasley[]

Brothers-in-law/Close Friends

The twin brothers of one of Harry's best friend, Ron Weasley, Fred and George were like older brother figures to Harry and Hermione and eventually were brothers-in-law after Harry married their younger sister, Ginny. They later helped him get to Hogsmeade by handing him the Marauder's Map, which was originally created by Harry's father and their friends. They also worked together on the Gryffindor Quidditch team and Harry later gave them his prize money for them to start their business, Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes in The Goblet of Fire.

Fleur Delacour[]

“'Arry, you saved my sister's life. I do not forget.
―Fleur to Harry

Close Friend/Sister-in-law

Fleur is one of the close friends of Harry Potter and his eventual sister-in-law through Fleur's husband, Bill and Harry's wife and Bill's sister, Ginny. Initially, Fleur disliked Harry, as she felt him unelligible to be a competitor in the Tri-Wizard Tournament and called him a "little boy." However, after Harry saved her younger sister, Gabrille, Fleur expressed gratitude to the fourteen-year-old and thanked him excessively while giving him a kiss on the cheeks twice and said fond farewells for each other.

During his summer with the Weasleys in 1996, Harry was the only one of the people who was comfortable with Fleur there. He was also one of the few males to not be affected by Fleur's beauty, showing their platonic relationship. Meanwhile Hermione, Ginny, and Molly thought she was uptight and found it hard living under a roof with her.

By 1997, Fleur acted as both a mother and a sister figure for Harry and his friends, acting fussy like their future mother-in-law.

Molly and Arthur Weasley[]

Pets[]

Hedwig[]

Harry Potter/Relationships (7)

Pet Owl

Hedwig was Harry's beloved pet Snowy owl that Hagridbought Harry for hiseleventh birthday, fromEeylops Owl EmporiuminDiagon Alley. Hedwig was often Harry's only companion during the lonely holidays he spent with theDursleys, and the bond that developed between them was a close one. Hedwig was usually very affectionate with Harry, which she showed by gently nibbling his ear or fingers. However, she was not above snubbing him out of jealousy or nipping him a bit harder than usual on the rare occasions he snapped at her.

Hedwig was also highly intelligent; she understood perfectly when Harry asked her to peck Ron and Hermione until they responded to him, and even flew, completely of her own accord, to where Hermione was on holiday in France, to ensure that Harry received a gift for his thirteenth birthday. In 1997, Harry was completely grief-stricken after Hedwig was struck by aKilling Curseduring theBattle of the Seven Potters.

Friends and Allies[]

Neville Longbottom[]

Harry Potter/Relationships (8)
Neville speaks most highly of you.
―Neville's opinion of Harry Potter

Close Friend

Harry and Neville first met on the Hogwarts Express during the 1991-1992 school year; when he first heard Harry was a part of the school, he was in shock and awe. When they were both sorted into Gryffindor, Neville and Harry became roommates (alongside Ron and Seamus Finnigan) and as a result, became close friends. As seen in the fourth novel, Neville was one of the few people who supported Harry when he was accused of putting his name into the Goblet of Fire. Due to Harry's strained relationship with Ron at the time, he spent more time with Neville. In both the book and the film, Harry learned (through Dumbledore's pensive) that Neville's parents, Franklin and Alice Longbottom were tortured into insanity by Barty Crouch Jnr, Bellatrix, Rodolphus, and Rabastan Lestrange. Harry felt Neville he deserved more pity than he did . However, he promised Dumbledore he would not tell anyone he was aware of this, and let Neville tell him the secret when the time was right.

In the fifth book, on the 1995-1996 school year, Neville was also among the many individuals who believed Harry and Dumbledore's claim that Voldemort had returned. That same year, Harry and his friends formed a secret organization known as Dumbledore's Army when Professor Dolores Umbridge refused to teach them defense against the Dark Arts. In the winter of 1996, Bellatrix Lestrange broke out of Azkaban and Harry joined Neville in the Room of Requirements, where Neville finally confided with Harry about his parents suffering at Bellatrix's hand. Neville also shared his belief that he would become stronger and try to honor his parents' reputations as excellent Aurors and Harry promised they would both make their parents proud. Indeed, this came to pass when Neville helped Harry fight the Death Eaters in the Department of Mysteries and console him on the wake of his godfather's demise. During their sixth year, Harry grew defensive when Rodmilda insulted both Neville and Luna because they were his real friends who were there for him during the Battle of the Ministry.

During the dark days of Voldemort taking over The Wizard World, Neville remained loyal to Harry, Ron and Hermione. During the battle of Hogwarts, Neville inadvertently assisted Harry during the final duel when he killed the last remaining Horcrux, Nagini, to save Ron and Hermione. Her destruction rendered Voldemort mortal again and Harry was able to defeat his arch-enemy once and for all thanks to Neville's contribution

Luna Lovegood[]

Harry Potter/Relationships (9)

Close Friend

Luna and Harry considered each other very good friends. They first met each other on the way to Hogwarts during their 1994-1995 school-year. Luna was also one of the few individuals who supported Dumbledore and Harry's claims that Voldemort had indeed returned and willingly taught by him during their DADA training. She later accompanied Harry to department of Mysteries and comforted Harry for losing his godfather.

In December 1996, Harry invited Luna to be his guest at the Christmas party, which she accepted. Later, during the 1997-1998 school year, Luna, Ginny and Neville reformed Dumbledore's Army in Harry, Ron, and Hermione's absence due to the threat of Voldemort and the Death Eaters.

When Harry and Ginny had a daughter, they gave her Luna's name as a middle name for Lily in honor of her and Lily Potter, Harry's mother.

Albus Dumbledore[]

Albus Dumbledore is the greatest sorcerer in the world. "
"Dumbledore's been driven out of this castle by the mere memory of me."
"He'll never be gone. Not as long as those who remain are loyal to him.
―Harry's regards of Dumbledore during his argument with Tom Riddle

Mentor/Close Friend

Dumbledore and Harry respected each other in the highest regards.

During The Chamber of Secrets, Harry showed extreme loyalty to Dumbledore, calling him the greatest sorcerer in the world. This loyalty was enough to call Fawkes who appears to those who show extreme loyalty to those who return the favor to Dumbledore.

Rubeus Hagrid[]

Close Friend

Rescued Harry from the house the night Lily and James Potter were murdered by Voldemort and safely brought him to Privet Drive.

Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas[]

Friends and Roommates

Harry was also good friends with his roommates, Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas. However, his relationship with Seamus was briefly strained during their fifth year, when Seamus didn't believe that Voldemort returned. However, Seamus began believing Harry when the Azkaban break-out happened in 1995 and apologized to him for doubting Harry's claims that Voldemort returned.

The two boys remained loyal to Harry during the Battle of Hogwarts, and were happy to see Harry, Ron and Hermione again when they returned in 1998.

Draco Malfoy[]

Former Rival

Minerva McGonagall[]

Former Teacher

Enemies[]

Voldemort[]

Arch-enemy

Bellatrix Lestrange[]

"SHE KILLED SIRIUS! SHE KILLED HIM — I'LL KILL HER
―Harry in regards of his hatred for Bellatrix

Harry has extreme hatred for Bellatrix, especially after she killed Sirius. He attempted to curse her multiple times but each time was a failure.

Eventually, Bellatrix would be killed by Molly Weasley, finally avenging the death of her son, Fred, and, to an extent, Sirius and Tonks.

Dolores Umbridge[]

Tertiary Arch-enemy/Former Teacher

Umbridge has been an enemy of Harry ever since she sent the Dementors to attack him and his cousin so Harry would be expelled from Hogwarts. He strongly dislikes her, almost at a similar level to Dolores Umbridge. She also mocked him for the return of Voldemort, especially after Cedric was murdered by him.

After learning she still had a job at the Ministry of Magic, Harry was still upset that she was able to get away with her crimes. He also took great pleasure in knocking her out with his magic. Umbridge would see justice when she was imprisoned for her crimes against Muggle-borns.

Umbridge is most notable for being the second person to ever leave a permanent scar on Harry, after Voldemort and has developed a hatred for her.
